The FireplaceA Story by Francis OrionFlashFiction
He really enjoyed his new place. After three days he had finally settled in. It was cozy, even though, there seemed to have an eerie coldness in the air. But, he had a giant fireplace to keep him warm. Tranquility filled his soul with his plush new surroundings.
Tonight he had a house warming party, all his friends came to visit. They commented on how peaceful he looked. He hadn't seen some of friends in so long. He really enjoyed reminiscing and sharing memories. It was such a perfect a night, he wished it could last forever. When his guests had all vanquished back to their dwellings. That cold eerie air seemed to roll back in. His heart was still full of love and reverence. So, he just decided to just relax by the fireplace to warm up a little. As he scrolled through his memories of the night, he suddenly felt off balance of sorts. He realized he was moving closer and closer to the fire. He tried pulling away, but he felt a set of hands guiding him into the fire! He began screaming "HELP!" and was flailing about lifelessly! It was no use, it was as if he was being given as sacrifice to the inferno. Despite his desperate pleas, he was slowly incinerated into dust. The new funeral director assistant looked over to the mortician and asked "Did you hear that?" "You hear a lot of strange things around here, you get used to it." He replied. © 2015 Francis OrionReviews
