By the Dear Light, a Warmth, Life Fire

By the Dear Light, a Warmth, Life Fire

A Poem by Frances Clark

A flower-meat, hazy as its
Sweet taste buds enrich air.

Pulled from the ground
By the dear light, a warmth, life fire.

It blossoms, and has to grow
Under clutter, beneath cloud.

The warmth is drained, dampened,
As we use as accepted resource

To power the tops of towers,
Cosy rooms, to be in dream.

And equally unfortunate, you’re vain.
As you Sauté in your skin, to become dark.
