When Cumbersome Bells Sway FainA Poem by Franc RodriguezA haunting thought of one's last breath, amid a majestic place.
Whence mighty winds bluster,
The waves brushing the shore, Whilst seagulls begin to hover, When the tides rise e'en more. The taut shutters sway'd keen, Before clammy shades that lurk, Within the flickering gleam seen, Beyond the sea now full of murk. Dreary clouds swathing a moon, Where the lighthouse foretells, The brazen storm coming soon, Upon the birr of the town's bells. Pouring rain drenching shingles, That drops the wet dew quickly, Shaping then the sundry ripples, I feel upon my soft cheeks briskly. Alone in such a bleak darkness, Where death is near to my breath, With my wearisome body listless, When I welk away upon this earth. I awake to the bustle of the sea, In the rainbow glistening above, The bluish waters beyond the lea, Amidst ebbs and a winsome dove. I hear the wondrous songs of glee, Amongst the mermaids that rove, Within the waves teeming and free, 'Tis the bliss of God's truthful love. I see hallow'd beings soar upward, O'er a widen'd welkin opening bain, Athwart the waters of a sea leeward, When cumbersome bells sway fain. © 2016 Franc Rodriguez
