AngelA Poem by Franc RodriguezInspired by Hans Christian Andersen's tale, "The Angel".
I was nameless in the immurement
Haunting me in the quotidian shade Of death condemning my poor soul, To the hollow walls of nothingness. I knew not the old hymns of praise, The lonely mortals sung of jovial joy, As the token of surcease was nigh, Lurking as the odd shadow of death. But yet, my saviour has arriv'd now, From the drear silhouette of a murk That daunt'd and chican'd my heart, While nights were so cold and silent. Through the thick darkness arose, The angel of God with white wings, As a chambre was cover'd by petals Of teeming roses drenching the floor. Within the birr, he swept me swiftly, Onto an eternal odyssey of divinity, Where the buttercups blossom then, In pulchritudinous gardens of a bliss. Past the fading and slender rosebush That had witness'd the mortal decease Of my pallid body reduc'd to mere dust In a numinous wind of my immortality. © 2016 Franc RodriguezReviews
