SempiternusA Poem by Franc RodriguezThe tale of a Roman vampire.
Through the obscure darkness of the night I roam,
Upon the soil of the mortals and the underground, Amidst the world of the living and dead at the gloam, Where I drink the blood of those who I soon spellbound. I was once the faithful servant and legionaire of Rome, Who fought from the lands of Germania to Macedonia, Born in the countryside of Hispania that was my home, And I became the cruel slayer of Britannia and Caledonia. Caesar, Augustus, Nero, knew my name as well as Hadrian, For I command'd the legions of the sea and the earth then, As the brash vilifiers of Rome fear'd the armies of Trajan, Whence, I led to absolute victory tenfold a thousand men. Thus, I am an immortal accurst nam'd Faustus Antoninus. The hideous vampire who my enemies call, Sempiternus. © 2016 Franc Rodriguez |
