Stairway To PhantasmagoriaA Poem by Franc RodriguezAn actor's last performance.
Outré, is the odyssey I shall embark,
Onto a renown'd stage of the theatre, With a corridor leading onto an abyss Of a stygian and psychedelic scarlet. The door to my dressing room opens, Where the fresh audience awaits me, In the proscenium of souls nameless, And the auditorium is full of clappers. The stately curtains fall one last time, And an applause of vanity surceases, When there is no overture or encore, As the shadow of death looms near. Hence, the performance shall finish, With the token of a memory existing Of such a Shakespearean grandeur, Envisioning the lovely face of Ophelia. But my psychosis shall condemn me To those harrowing megrims of death, Where the old usher closes the door, Onto the stairway to phantasmagoria. © 2016 Franc Rodriguez |
