WealA Poem by Franc RodriguezA tribute to the immigrants who entered Stalin Island in the history of America.Towering edifices built by bold men,
Who belabor'd in their sweat and toil, And came from the far lands abroad, To plow this nation's wondrous soil. Uncouth names and dishevel'd faces, In the search of the American dream, That brought their forbearance and will, Seeking grace amid hope by the gleam. The unwitting smiles and grins of men, Who yearn'd upon America a new liberty, In the children of the bosoms of mothers, With an unknown destiny in their vicinity. Uncertain lives and shatter'd dreams, As many were shunt and not embrac'd, And had return'd in the years that pass'd, Threadbare within barren lands effac'd. Unbroken faith and the steadfast desire, Who remain'd and found their restitution, And dwelt in a vast land as new citizens, Under the solace of a valiant constitution. No homeland is lorn in winds that blow, If in this nation lies the soul of modesty, As no pelf of wealth o'ercomes a spirit, And the wearisome plight of humanity. Behold teeming shores and quiet sighs, As the stour image tower'd from above, Where amid the wonders of heaven lain, The harbor awaiting the flight of a dove. No woe is forgotten in the beauty shone, Abreast the whims and colors of majesty, In the thriving weal of a nation wrought, With those who wield'd with their vitalty. © 2016 Franc Rodriguez |
