Virtue And IniquityA Poem by Franc RodriguezA tribute to Oscar Wilde.
Nay, shall I vanish consequently,
In the Hades of a senseless logic, Pinning away the haughty vagary, In a surreal realm that is chronic. I shall not submerge my able mind, In comparable and vapid remedies, When complaining in obscure silence, Amid visages of intolerable enemies. Alas, to recoil before the pundits, Inside fore'er a sudden abashment, When our society judges to accept, Such perfection and blandishment. Rectitude, merit, vanity, degeneracy, In confounding Plutonian intricacies, When cajoling our mortal mien instead, To endure mere desirable simplicities. In obstreperous cities of malefactors, I muse as I glance in perambulation, When my doubts confront afterward, The diatribe of constant moralisation. Know that time has no actual recourse, Except a reality of existence and demise, With the anomaly of a virtue and iniquity, That the righteous populace then reprise. © 2016 Franc Rodriguez |
