Intellectual RaptureA Poem by Franc RodriguezA tribute to Edgar Allan Poe.
Virtu express'd by a core of knowledge,
Abandoning an ephemeral state of pathos, As the critics seek to impose logos upon us, Whilst our creativity inculcates our ethos. I do not differ with the outré comparison, And consequently aver the mere obvious, That I am pensive and occupy my mind, With inquisitive feats that are impervious. I am not too contemptuous or I rebuff, That strongest point of my conviction, Which is not very futile to eschew then, On the basis of a tangent contradiction. I am reverent and follow internally, True guidance of my obvious intuition, And incline to proceed expeditiously, For my lovable charisma is my fruition. Do not attempt to elaborate loquaciously, Mere furtherance of my debonair enacture, When society should discover afterwards, A fellow of considerable nous in exposure. I am jocund in my drollery yet intrigued, Within the sense of my intellectual rapture, When the casuists should deem me quixotic, With such a surreal and exemplary tincture. © 2016 Franc Rodriguez |
