Sojourn

Sojourn

A Poem by Franc Rodriguez
"

A soul's, whose body lies in a graveyard, while his spirit strolls in the lovely place of Aidenn.

"
Beyond the valley stately and verdant,
Lies the Elysian field of crimson petals,
With all their saintly and virginal sepals,
Awaken'd from a nightly sleep abundant.

A halcyon breeze of morning to appease,
The ascent of noble pinions of angels near,
Majestic maidens shining radiant and clear,
Above a phantom ground of pitiable decease.

Fountains surging beside blooming hyacinths,
Wondrous echoes of the gentle voices of joy,
Where the true immortals and mortals enjoy,
The boundless gardens of idyllic labyrinths.

There, is my beauteous and fond home fore'er,
Amid the jasmines and violets of Aidenn I stroll,
Within a dew of Autumn dripping upon the knoll,
Shelter'd by those rays of the midday where'er.

My corpse accurst beneath the barrows I dree,
In the pallid graveyard of chagrin and solitude,
As my laden spirit is lost among the multitude,
Eager to breathe the fresh air of the earth free.

Hark to the harmonies of the paean serenading,
Where the visages of hope comfort the wretch'd,
Exil'd to the winds of the ashes of men anguish'd.
Before the bosom of rivers and ripples pervading.

Nay, shall the knell deafen ye tenant'd brethren,
By the gate of a lethean and desolate catacomb,
As thy souls rise from the soil of a dormant tomb,
Fly with those infinite cherubs of divine children.

O'er the fainting light of dusk haunts an odd gloom,
That covers the old headstones and the willowy tree,
A reminder of the dreary days and nights of the lee,
Found in the graveyard and dark shadows that loom.

O behold, for this is my sojourn....
