HadriaA Poem by Franc Rodriguez-From my novel "Sempiternus", I dedicate this poem to the character of Hadria, the once consort of Sempiternus.
I have seen the Plutonian visage of darkness,
Accompany the pallid vestige of my soul void, And sempiternal nights of blood and starkness, Encompassing the physicality I cannot avoid. The pinnacle of innumerable centuries of vanity, Concealing haunting years of my condemnation, Banish'd to a sorrow of the Lethe and my sanity, As Boudicca creat'd this preternatural realisation. Traipsing the evolv'd earth from city to city weary, And satisfying my orectic thirst e'ery night I feed, In search of nepenthe to relieve vexation so dreary, Within the obstreperous streets of beings I need. Mourning the charming scent of her true beauty, Fore'er lost and trapp'd in the taint'd memories, Where I recall her stately elegance and quality, And left daunt'd by the trove of her accessories. Behold those puissant winds of the Pleaides, As I sense a gentle movement of her presence, Past the verge of aphotic corridors of the Hades, And I follow a torment'd vagary of her essence. A thousand times I have dreamt again her return, From a profound chambre of my seclud'd castle, Curst by punctilious words of the destest'd inurn, With the damnable and cadent echoes that startle. Dwelling among typhlotic iniquities of the mortals, I command'd the legions of soldiers and vampires, Within those plenteous caprices of the immortals, Amid the colossal wind of the night that suspires. I reign the underworld as the master of delirium, Upon my palatial throne of the eerie underworld, Awaiting my adorable consort to erase my tedium, Desiring a tranquility and reward of the afterworld. O my dear Hadria, 'tis I Sempiternus..... © 2016 Franc Rodriguez |
