`Barefoot Courtisan`

`Barefoot Courtisan`

A Poem by Fran Marie

Geisha girl. Lotus pearll
zen gardens float on fronds of ferns
          and green peacock feathers

blending colors of cherry blossoms and rainbows
but how does your garden flow?

geisha girl, lotus pearl
   bleeding into blue cracked teacups
empty teardrops tainted in black mascara

on white kabuki art drawn masks
porceline in a garden cannot grow

geisha girl, lotus pearl
locked  up dreams  wrapped too tight
in dyed kimonos and dainty tea cakes

breaking inside fleeting beauty
a dying, colorless heart of a barefoot courtisan

I've always had a fascination with Geishas and your poem is an absolute work of art-phenomenal read rich with beauty and intrigue. This is going in my favorites because the richness of the words, how you painted the picture is absolutely breathtaking. Glorious poem my dear.

poignant...a side of Giesha they would never show eh!? .. bound feet kept leaping to mind as i read ...bound feet and bound hearts and bound lives ...and all in the name of a code that also colors so richly ..deeply ..

Geishas make for a fascinating poetry subject. There is such rhythm, grace and beauty in each line and verse.

Thanks Divya.. So very much appreciate you reading my poetry dear friend
Very nice, the only thing I disliked was 'How does your garden flow?' because it reminds me of a child's film.

Great descriptive words I can see her with her tiny bandaged feet tip toeing through the blossom tears staining her powdered face! Loved this Fran Marie, great writing!

thanks for all the reviews on my poetry;
Wow, this is outstanding! The imagery is so very real, and the rhythm in this poem feels like a stroll beside the palace stream. I think my suggestion for this poem would be to add a little bit more punctuation; you have made use of some commas and a question mark, but a few more commas or other punctuation might help it read better. Bravo!

Barefoot Courtisan shows us a picture of geisha.
I am curious to know more about them.
Very nice poem.

beautiful and delicate imagery, I felt as if I had to read gently or else the weight of my eyes would crack the poem. I loved the way the speaker addressed the girl, "geisha girl, lotus pearl"

The poem is beautiful. Your description open up good vision of a beautiful place.
"geisha girl, lotus pearl
bleeding into blue cracked teacups
empty teardrops tainted in black mascara"
I like the questions raised by the outstanding poetry.
