A Poem by Fran Marie
"

halloween fun

"

Darkness

silently swept

across the land.

stealing the sun's

final celestrial stand.

The silvery moon awoke

from daytime slumber

with a milky fullness,

lacking no hunger.

Light freckled across

a cool purple sky,

as stars flashed a firey

glow upon high.

Demented beings with

mean hideous faces

suddenly appeared

evil revealed itself in

in many places

Tho~the dark dusk air

of this mysterious night

shrouded all

discoveries of day,

And the ever

clouded darkness

'twas here to stay

To haunt

To fright

and most scariest of all around

was not that of sight

but rather an eerie sound

with the deadliest thump

Oh, yes, it was
' A bump in the night'

Your intro really got a hold on me! Very cool beginning! Totally right for the season! I liked it! I really liked how you picked the phrase "a bump in the night" to write about instead of what most people write about around Holloween like "Dracula" or "The Wolf Man." You picked a phrase and made it a character! That I think is really cool!

I love spooky writes all year long, so I'm glad I had this one tucked in my library, which I've been catching up on lately. This is fine for non-Halloween enjoyment becuz I love the "demented beings with mean hideous faces" that I imagine are probably dwelling in my surrounding wilderness. I love your fun poem with smooth rhyme & rhythm and a ton of imagination (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thanks for reading Margie..I always welcome your reviews and appreciate it.
i am 9 yrs late but your poem is right on time Fran! ;) your poem sucked me in with an ethereal scene playing out as day and night changed shift ..the contrast with the evil is offsetting to me ..put me off balance ..but i am left with the fun of another Halloween ..remembering all those bumps in the night .. bruuuuahahahaha!

love the rhythm of this piece - the flow I can just dip into - these are my favourite kind of rhyme-poems - where the rhyme compliments the words and images as opposed to dominating it and dragging the piece along ha - no worries of that here - expertly done! nice!

I love your description of the
too. It's a wonderfully eerie poem

Your imagery sets the mind up for a frightful scene and yet it is the sound that often haunts us the most. You always have a creative way with words that spin and interesting tale and this one was spooky. It lets the imagination decide what these creatures are and the sound that terrified the narrator.

This starts out a little spooky and flows smoothly on.
A nice dark captivating feel, mysterious as that
sound that goes bump in the night!
Very playful and very Halloween!!!

A great write!
