Kooky Cuckoo Clock

Kooky Cuckoo Clock

A Poem by Fran Marie
"

Clock Contest write

"

I look at that dang cuckoo clock
    hanging on my wall,
        constantly it goes tick-tock
                      waking me with it's call

Oh how it drives me nuts
     It cuckoos all day long
            uttering it's crazy bird stuff
                     cukoos are it's only song

I'm so sorry I bought it now
it ain't worth a thin dime
I must have been insane, holy cow!
                          Just wasn't worth the time.

And time? well, that it cannot keep
but it does come out every hour
it's enough to make you weep
                          with creepy notes so sour.

All it has is cuckoos galore
I simply couldn't stand it no more
         so I jerked it down
          smashed and destroyed it's sound!

The Kooky Cuckoo Clock
now lies dead upon the floor
Now it cuckoos Nevermore, Never, Never More!

Hilarious! This reminds me of the horrible old, dusty, dysfunctional cuckoo clock that my grandmother had at her house. It used to go off at the weirdest times... certainly not at one hour intervals! It was almost a little creepy. I wonder who it was who first got the idea that a cuckoo clock would be a good thing, and why on earth did it catch on? I'm sure everyone has at least one relative who has one! Nice commentary!

hooray! cuckoo never more! I admit I've never seen one myself, but I have this image of cuckoo clocks being sweet, even comical. You've made me see cuckoos in a whole new light. Thanks! Great little poem, I loved. Thanks for your patience in waiting for me to review and look out for the winners of the "i want to laugh" contest soon.:)

I like it. I've always liked how pretty cuckoo clocks could be, but now I fear to buy one. Good writing, well written, and funny. ^_^

this is one coy and playful piece. almost childlike really. i love how the words flow with sheer innocence yet also with encapsulated intents of destruction.

it is very clever how the gears of the narrator's mind shows inadvertently shows in this poem. the process of pivotal emotions are very evident.

though there is a hint of neurosis in this poem, you can't help but feel a bit calm after reading this. the scary comes after a little while.

That reminded me of the Cuckoo Clock my Aunt had on her wall. I use to try and catch that dumb bird, but I was never fast enough. I real slow five year old. A really cute write. Well done.

How hilarious... i remember having one of these clocks in our house and they can be nice except after a while they drive you nuts when you are watching tv or trying to sleep... I like your fun take on it.
