Enamel-roses sit still, next to Mother's porcelain teacup on a white linen tablecloth draped on the dining-room buffet
once they were real and her teacup filled with fresh brewed tea on a shining sunlit day.
and if I could give you one thing It would be a rose for you Mother on your special day so long ago it seems you've passed to a better place
I've only your photograph and fond memories of you Mother left to be found among my dreams.
and If I could give you one thing It would be a rose for a Rose for your essence remains
and I remember Mother Dear you sipping tea in the afternoon, Arranging flowers daintily, just so, in vases on the veranda
And I've not forgotton your smile and sweet laughter's tune Oh, yes, Mom, if I could give you one thing it would be the best rose that comes from this heart of your womb.
Dedicated to my Mother, Anna Rose. who now resides in heaven
You are one of the few poets I've read who can elicit deep emotions from me. As Christians we can rest assured that if we follow His way, we'll all be reunited in the eternal life. You will see your dear mother and father and I will see all those in my family who have preceded me in this pilgrimage called life.
Fran,
A wonderful poem of remembrance and the beauty of motherhood. I lost my mother to cancer nearly 32 years ago and still miss her at times. Great ending . . . "it would be the best rose that comes/from this heart of your womb." Says so much.

dear Fran... your poem reflects the sweetest words
from you... the heart of her womb.
My Mother Edith Irene also now resides in heaven.
She always thought of me as a Rose unfolding.
Her love was always like raindrops of assurance of
unconditional love. truly, Pat

Thanks Pat..so much for your Lovely thoughtful review on my poem..I so appreciate it..
Beautiful imagery you have created here. Give your mother that rose on her special day. Buy a beautiful fresh rose, light a candle and place it next to your Mum's photograph. Poignant thoughts about your mum in Heaven.
Thank you

Thank you Chris..so sorry I am late with my thank you note....
This is so beautifully stated with detailed memories drawn in vivid word pictures. I like the reference to old-timey things such as teacups & tablecloths, plus your tone throughout matches the delicacy of these memory-provoking articles. Your adoration is palpable, mixed with a touch of melancholy.

amazing write......such a beautiful poem.....mothers......there is no one like them......a lovely tribute to your mother......I can see the mother and daughter relationship, one of the best in the world........I will not say about line since each line is beautiful and I have to write every........
This was a gorgeously written piece of art, full of fondness as well as a little bit of sadness. It captured me from start to finish in wonderful imagery. The repetition with the slight changes in the different verses tied the whole thing together seamlessly.

These were my favorite two stanzas (because I couldn't pick just one) because they take you from present day when the real roses are replaced with enamel in tribute, back the past when they were as real and alive as your mother was. This was fantastic and stunning, keep it up!
