Winter Willow

Winter Willow

A Poem by Fran Marie

When the weeping willow cries
     and sways on yonder hill
whispering wisps of woe it sighs
in the hush of ev'ning still

with graceful limbs her canopy
     shedding the tears she knows
she will bring the first signs of spring
     as rapidly she grows

and poets tell her beauty in rhyme
     or perhaps in prose
but for now, her sweeping boughs in winter time
     stand alone in sweet repose

Absolutely beautiful. Excellent job.

Great! I loved reading this. Such simplicity, but such grandeur too. I like your traditional way of poetry. I'm a great fan of formal poetry too! The meter is a tad uneven in this write, but it is sufficient to lend a great flow to this.
Great work.
