Blood and Roses

Blood and Roses

A Poem by Fran Marie

Nothing lasts forever

    roses wither,then die

and blood runs oh so cold

All things considered

in love, you can never say never

unless you've a good reason why

Take a moment to think it in

     beyond what's been told

              how love can disarm

Stripping your heart bare to bleed

       weak, lonely and forlorn

              your soul lost within

Blood and Roses

    both red, flowing and living

quickly ceases to a stalemate blue

When love walks out

    after all your giving

you find forever is not meant for you

A very sad poem :(
But I saw the title in my slumber and thought I'd have a read ..
I suppose that's the rub
given enough time , Nothing is forever
Lovers are parted by arguments, differences in aims
and if they get through all that
finally Death ...

The only thing that's forever is memory I suppose

This poem was beautiful, heart wrenching and almost addictive. I swear, I read it three times in a row before finnally reviewing it. I don't know what draws me to it, the fact that I can relate to it... or something else entirely. I completely loved it.

Such emotion flowing here! Poetically and personally beautiful!
You have captured the essence of the pain that so many have experienced
at one time or another...
Excellent!

Ty for entering!

My interpretation of this is of a search for the beauty in even the most unpleasant of attributes of life and nature. The piece invites us to appreciate the "thorns" that lie amongst the stems of surface pleasures of life so that as observers of aestheticsm we are left with an inspiration to notice that life is filled with wonders beyond even those we tend toward.
/when love walks out after all your giving you find forever is not meant for you/

This line, to me, conveys the message that, forever being meant for anyone is merely beauty in the hand holding the thorns of the rose. Perhaps, if one is focused purely on the bloom, one is missing something in the glory of what beauty is.

A feast for the pensive heart, excellent piece.
