White Magic

White Magic

A Poem by Fran Marie

 MainRoadbyJudysHouse.jpg Snowstorm image by mrsgoren

Sleeping,dreaming
    Oh,the night is long
               as I slumber~
my visions of a silent white night

 Crystal white snowflakes
     wet my senses,holding
             the moment~ feeling divine
                              Sleeping,dreaming

 Falling,drifting
       in silence flying
             with winter's calling
                      Oh, the night is long

 Chilled -winds blowing
      white magic, blankets barren ground
             glowing with sparkling light
                                       as I slumber

 Then, a waking world calls
       and reality, claims me
                making me, forsake
my visions of a silent white night

I, too, think that snow is magic, or at least one of nature's many wonders, and one of the most wonderful at that.
I like the drifting formating, it fits the theme perfectly.
The repetition of the single lines of the first stanza each as the last of one following is brilliant.
Then the theme itself is amazing, dreaming of snow falling at night makes me wish for actual snowfall during the time of the slumber... and who knows? Maybe that is exactly what's going on outside. There is nothing like waking up to a snowy scenery on a winter morning.
I really enjoyed this poem.

creative form, Fran ... catches me eye instantly ;) wonderful scene you create ... your poem plays many of me favorite strings ... sleeping, dreaming, floating ... that wondrous quiet serenity when snow throws its quilt over fall ... Mother goes to sleep ... and dreams away ... of all the life force in Spring .. i like every word .. line and verse .. but V2 L2 ... sensuous wonderland! thanks for sharing, Fran ... glad i did not miss this one ...

With your words...I drifted into that silent, white slumber...I thought of the sparkling Christmas lights in the snow...Reality can wait...till I have had my fill of this white magic.

The font and format bring this poem alive...beautifully written, Fran.

Many thanks dear Divya..I so vey much
appreciate your thought and words
on m y poem;
You've titled this ' White MAGIC' and for me the word 'magic' seems to grow larger as the poem continues.. as if time is making magic out of something familiar, that white snow, frost, air.. that Winter brings. Your stanzas show the differences, the emotions about those changes too.. and that's all part of the MAGIC we each see and feel according to temperament or sense of being, again..

MAGIC? Perhaps.

You are welcome dear Fran.
This is magical writing! I was transported to different worlds. First -- how much I love your dynamic action words (sleeping, dreaming, drifting, flying) -- this MAKES the poem! I start out reading this narrator as sleeping/dreaming thru a white night & might awaken to a wonderland (typical predictable) . . . I was surprised the journey morphs into a long white night called "winter" (goes on & on, immersed in whiteness) . . . surprised yet again as we morph into the white night being an escape from reality & into imagination or creativity. So much magic being brought on by something as simple as a white night! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is quite beautiful, and very evocative of that special feeling one gets only in the cold, stark, wondrous desolation of winter.
