Suppose

Suppose

A Poem by Fran Marie

Suppose I wrote my feelings down in poetic verse

would you even read one line

Suppose I practice and rehearsed

spelling it out for you in rhyme

if I were to say I love you

would it be so wrong

Suppose I wore my heart on my sleeve

would you think me weak or strong?

Suppose the feeling was mutual

saying you cared and felt the same way too

and all along in your heart of hearts

I was the one for you

Suppose you scribbled love poems down

would it be that I would care

Suppose you perfected each word and sound

for mine eyes to behold if but I would dare

Suppose we two could meet in time

a chance to gaze into eyes that would show

the love supposed in rhyme on line

then we could really know

Suppose all the love songs sung

were meant for you and I

then perchance, I suppose,

I would write love poems for thee

my love 'til the day I die

Excellent poem. Your word choice and organization show such an intelligence to bring the words to life. Your ability to rhyme is uncanny and It shows that you put time and effort into your writing, unless it comes second nature, in which case I would be the first to say that I were envious of you. Great write. Keep up the good work.

Fran, This kind of reminds me of my "To An Un-met Love" which expressed my belief that some She was out there, somewhere, just waiting to be discovered. I'm always troubled whan I read a poem about "If I wait long enough (my love will find me); if I work hard enough (my love will believe me)", and there seem to be a lot of them here, but that does not speak to the beauty which is this poem. It repeats Humanity's oldest theme, that the heart desires nothing more (and nothing LESS!) than for another heart to desire it back.

I wrote a letter like this to a guy who hardly knew I existed, but I never mailed it! You caprured the feelings of hope and desire to love, the magic of a new experience in finding love.

A love poem within a poem, how brilliant!

This is unlike any love poem I have read. There is much deep thinking put into this one. Way to go!

Outstanding poem Fran!
So romantic, and loving..
I believe this is what true poetry
sounds like... I'm humbled.
