Mourning Rain
A Poem by
Fran Marie
Ovillejo Form
Sitting in the dark all alone,
I'm home.
Pondering now what I'm to do?
Without you.
Called by God to heaven above
My love.
Swept away from me, my sweet dove.
My tears still fresh as morning rain
Love since you left this earthly plane
I'm home without you, my love.

Author's Note
The "ovillejo," an old Spanish verse form that means "tight
little bundle." "-ejo" is one of our blessed diminutives,
and "ovillo" means "tangled ball of yarn." The last line is
a "redondilla," a "little round" that collects all three of the
short lines. The rhyme scheme is established, but the meter is
at the poet's discretion, although in Spanish the longer lines
tend to be octosyllabic. ( octosyllabic: A line of verse
containing eight syllables)

thanks Mauricio, so very much;
I really like these lines, "...Called by God to heaven above
My love.
Swept away from me, my sweet dove..."
This verse is short, candid and melancholy. Filled with resignation also. Love the play on words in the title.

A fine learning opportunity given in a small but lovely poem. As always well done.
