Stoned Cold Laurels

Stoned Cold Laurels

A Poem by Fran Marie

powdered~ puff dragon
his laurel leaf crown slipped
magic~
over eyes that have wept
and whose mind has slept...kept
          from truth..  grieved.
in his naive youth  deceived
            by one sweet rose..
green laurel leaves withered
            and can weep no more

Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou, Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name...what's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet...
wept, slept kept from the truth.
Our young generation may just wake up one day to see the world around them is in permanent sleep...
and they will wonder what happened.
damn, this is such a significant write...I feel it is one of my favorites from you Fran.
If I rated I would give this 110!

dear Fran… reminds me of “Puff the Magic Dragon lived by the Sea.. he frolicked in the Noon day Sun in a Land called Honalea. Dragons live forever.. not so little boys… and so the story goes. Gently, Pat

..over eyes that have wept and whose mind has slept...kept from truth...grieved. in his naive youth deceived by one sweet rose... I love these lines! Is is sad to say that it appears to be so much easier for people to not tell the truth these days. That is in every situation; relationships, business, between friends, etc. When discovered, the lie will hurt worse than the truth. ...and can weep no more. Being deceived can do that. Nice work, Fran! Thank you for sharing! Temp

A sensual poem with deep meanings of love, truths that have been kept secret. Now the rose is withered as is he.... neither can weep no more... the photo is so perfect to sway with your words...there is something very mystetious about it... love once there has faded away.
Excellent write Fran!
