The Last StretchA Poem by Fran MarieDriving on this deserted highway. bitter air bites loneliness surrounding snow casts a dull silver overcast shadows blur my vision stealing the monotonous scene these miles of boring straight road I fall into my mind's eye to a misty memory bits and pieces once clear now appear vague yet~a sweet hazed picture of you.. waiting by green garland and red glowing lights comes into view soon the hush of evening will rush in~ blushing darkness with snowflakes~in the distance as I drive the last stretch... and I'll be there with you tonight
