A Letter for Mother

A Letter for Mother

A Poem by Fran Marie

Mamma sometimes I feel
like your little child again
it's when I start missing
your warm gentle smile

and tears blur your image
but my mind stirs a potion
of lovely moments remembering how your
soft spoken words smoothly
comforted me in the dark
of night

 and mother I miss you

when I need someone who
understands me the way
you always did..each time
I see fair flowers I see your
face in every rose

     and mom I love you

just in case you dont know
I still here you sweet voice singing to me

            "you are my sunshine
              my only sunshine....

I just wanted to write this letter to let you know

                     Mama
       you are my sunshine too

This is one of the most precious things I've read this week. Wow! I had a broken family with much animosity & abuse, but how much I would've preferred that all my siblings & myself felt like this about our parents. I have to read a poem like this, so vivid & poignant, just to see how it feels (((HUGS)))

The bond between mother and daughter is so intensely strong, it sometimes almost hurts and both by heart and my head pound, when as I sometimes do, I think about the fact that the gift of life itself is finite.

My mother is now in her seventies, in good health, (she always claims when my sister or I ask,) but there is a reality to be faced that may come sooner than I wish and I am minded that no matter the comfort of memory, the comfort of snuggling in my mother's arms will always be so much more.

Like Chris, this tugged at my heartstrings and those tears that blur came oh so close to reality as I read your beautiful tribute to a clearly much loved and missed mother.

Oh wow! My mom would sing that same song to me while in the backyard hanging clothes on the line. "You are my sunshine...." The last funeral I went to was for my mom. I refuse to go to any funeral anymore, it doesn't matter who it is. I could not stand to see my mom laying in the coffin. Strong feeling evoked here. Have a sweet day. Jeff

Heartfelt sincerity. How I felt this one pluck at my own heart strings. Lovely poem Fran which I related too in every way. How I miss my mum as she was.
