Ice

Ice

A Poem by Fran Marie
"

Ya Du form

"
oh winter nights
casting lights dim
chill bites the air
blinding glare snows
rage there as bitter wind blows

tall pine trees bow
upright; now bent
down boughs, with ice
on un-nice ground
harsh slice of winter profound

soon spring shall come
when you're done~and
you've run your course
no remorse lent
your coarse, farewell winter spent

Goodness, Fran Dearest! 🌾

This is one of (if not the) most beautifully rendered Yadu I've yet had the pleasure of enjoying, including my own renditions.😏
In spot-on line counts and rhyme scheme, you've taken poetic syntax, vivid metaphor, the emotional timbre of the season, and unique word-choices, combining them all with your creative poetic voice to create this wonderfully enjoyable piece for our sheer enjoyment. Also, your choice of 7-syllables sings best with the 4-syllable counts of each stanza, far better than 5, 9, or 11, and sets it apart as an aptly interesting finale.
"Farewell, Winter spent", indeed, but soon enough we'll be embraced again by icy arms, like that perfect icebound picture … brrr!

Splendidly done, Poetess … I dearly love reading such well written and presented metered poetry so few today are skilled enough to compose.
Kudos, Dear Lady Fran Marie! ⁓ Richard 🍃

Beautiful! I’ve not heard of this form of poetry writing but it shows the feeling you are portraying. I’m afraid my poems sound like something in a children’s book! Great job!

for stopping by
I a o appreciate it;
I truly do hate cold. But here on the central California coast, my idea of "cold" would be laughable to the people who felt the polar vortex this winter! Still, wimp or not, your poem makes me feel the vicious bite of ice & cold & snow in such a hurtful dynamic way. Yet, you finish with a springtime truce, as if to say, lots of benevolent forces bite us in the a*s, but life always gets sunny again (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

so.much appreciate
your kind words on
my poem;
Very nice Fran Marie. First off your words paint a fine picture of this wintry scene. Then I haven't seen this form of poem before. It took me a little time to figure out the rhyming scheme which you have pulled off very cleverly.
Hope you are well. Isn't it great to have left winter behind.
All the best.
Alan
