Maybe

Maybe

A Poem by Fran Marie

my kisses may excite you
my love may ignite you
yet, my will may fight you

your eyes may undress me
your arms may caress me
yet, your will may arrest me

my desires will warm you
my emotions will harm you
still..my words will warn you

your dreams will enfold me
your heart will scold me
still..your words will behold me

Interesting device in this one. In the first three verses the last line seems to contradict the sentiments of the preceding two. It is as though a come on is counterbalanced by a warning. In the last verse, though, the message seems to say the risk is worth it. Perhaps that is the truth about all relationships.

Love the contradiction in this poem. When we live with someone and spend many years with that person there are times that we drive each other crazy and sometimes say unkind words we don’t really mean.

A tale of most lovers here. Very relatable

appreciate your

I think this is a perfect description of love with all it's passion and messiness too. Not necessarily a warning, just an acceptance of reality. There is a shadow in our love relationships as well as in our psyches. I think you have expressed this brilliantly and it is refreshing to read a love poem that embraces the good as well as the bad.

I loved the above lines and I do believe. Women decide if love or not. Thank you dear Fran for sharing the outstanding poetry. You said everything needed in the words.

You are welcome dear Fran.
Nicely clever wordplay! I love when a love poem reflects the true ambivalence that many experience. Love is never straightforward. If not for such cliffhangers as you lay out here, love would not be such an irresistible rollercoaster to write about. You make love sound irresistible with strong rhyme & rhythm (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I'm not sure if you are saying, beware of me I'm dangerous.
Enter at your own will.
Naturally being male that's what we do, and then it happens.
