A Poem by Fran Marie
"

A 2020 Thanksgiving

"
a different kind
of day ..one not
so kind; aloof and
distant as a stormy
cloud..a burst of
darkness rains dismay

. 4 maybe
a couple more gather
round the holiday table

and Lord bless this bounty
as we receive today,

then  grieve
tomorrow once again
in dismal rooms alone
without light; without joy

    Jesus. Mary. Joseph.
what has happened
             to us. ..

this hits the bullseye as to how we celebrate the holidays this year.
Together alone...the tiniest of groups...
spacing, worry over transmitting, over catching...
Live will get better, we have to believe that is on the horizon, we just have to get there.

Living alone in the wilderness for 10 years, one of the best lessons is that I'm hardly alone! Nature teems with variety & activity & promise. That's what your poem suggests to me, inviting us to have anyone we want at our empty covid-restricted table . . . even Mary, Joseph, & Jesus! Or other loved ones not within reach for whatever reasons. Nicely inspiring us to focus on possibilities, not restrictions. Happy new year! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

s o much appreciated;
An echo of the times be they temporary or not. However we must maintain momentum and optimism as man has overcome and will again. What we forget is that such deaths occur every year but we just don't count all the bodies on daily news casts.

so true
thanks John
for your kind review;
I am hopeful that things are about to get better. It has been awful for so many, so much pain. There doesn't seem much to be thankful for at the moment, apart from a turkey dinner without the usual company of loved ones. A sad reflection on how it is. I will still wish you a happy thanksgiving Fran Marie. Keep safe and well my friend.
