`A Day in June`~Sonnet~

`A Day in June`~Sonnet~

A Poem by Fran Marie

And what is so rare as a day in June

when all of nature is harmony's tune

and in the beauty of a single rose

on emerald stem, 'neath golden sun glows

And what is so rare, than June's milky moon

whilst lovelight dances in two lover's eyes

when summer's breeze blends with love's sweet parfume

and sil'vry star's wish comes true for youth's bride

Oh, 'tis so rare in the beauty thereof

when, fair June plays host to summer's sweet love

trees debut fully dressed in foilage green

a view to behold of beauty serene

Ah, that's what's so rare as a day in June

when all of heaven and earth stays attune

Although this is seemingly a dreamy-eyed 'love-of-life' poem, the delicacy of touch that has gone into its creation somehow helps it transcend the stigma of cliche. It is beautifully bound-up in lyrical imagery of heavenly perfection. It leaves one longing for the return of such days that we ourselves surely have witnessed at some point in our lives. And when one such day is described to you, that immaculate memory returns; the feel of it, the scent, the warmth, the emotion, the inspiration, and the happiness. All these things are brought to mind through the skilful atristry of this piece of work.
The poem is the smell of lavender perfume.
