`Kiss of Death`

`Kiss of Death`

A Poem by Fran Marie
"

Sonnet on killer storms,twisters,etc..

"

The raindrops kissed the Earth and whispered death

Shivers and chills engulfed my haunted soul

an icy phantom stole away my breath

in a vast stillness beyond my control

the winds howled like wolves hunting midnight prey

and thunder roared like a fierce lion beast

Powerless now as the lights went away

frozen in darkness I feared no release

Oh! that the heavens would calm the storm

and dissolve such darkness of the tomb

vague raindrops turned to hailstones of death's gloom

this weeping nightmare of loss so forlorn

'Alas raindrops remain steady their course

with the kiss of death~having no remorse

This sent shivers down my spine. You have spun a great descriptive tale here. Very well done Fran. Threw me headlong into this creepy scenario from the first line.

"Powerless now as the lights went away

frozen in darkness I feared no release....."

Still shivering!!

Uuuhhh - this made me feel as if I was amidst the storm you describe here. You really know how to use words to paint a picture with a terrifying and horrifying scene. I even felt the cold, and heard the raindrops that changed into hailstones. I could hear the thunder ...

Wow! A marvelous piece!

Mercy! I'm sure glad I'm not where you are young lady. This decidedly is a chilling tale of a terrible storm that wreaks havoc and destruction wherever it strikes. Very good. Very dramatic!

Can I come out from under the bed yet, Fran? I do think you captured the nightmare of a terrible storm frighteningly well! Enjoyed, Sharon :-)
