A Poem by Fran Marie

Walking down a desolate road at night

when in the distance I did see

a blinding supicious vicious light

approaching ever so near to me

I can't explain its eerie glow

nor the chills running up my spine

A death-like stillness pervaded my soul

and a breathless mist held my mind

When a strange noise befell my ear

I tried to scream, yet  I could not

Shivering in the cold damp air

my voice in death's vapors caught

Light and noise I could not fathom as real

perhaps delusions had taken control

a figment of my imagination, quite surreal

yet so intense, paralyzing my heart and soul

Suddenly the vicious light had dimmed

and the deadly noise I heard, faded away

When flashes of lightning across the sky skimmed

and peals of faint thunder joined in to play

My heart beat wildly, released from its marble confine

Splashes of raindrops awakened my haunted soul

reality of the storm had claim me revealing to my mind

only deadly delusions for a moment had taken control

i love this poem, you really capture the intent, and the focus remains consistant, which in turn
creates a sense of scenery which comes to life, the rhyme form is equally imppressive,
reminds me of a darkness seeping into the soul, the images are beautifully haunting,
fran, you never cease to amaze me with the scope of depth and your ability to transport
the reader, the shadowy mystique is spooky, the poetic ambience is captivating.

I take it this was an entry for the word desolate although you failed to mark it as such. very deep and haunting tone to this piece, very well crafted and leaves images lingering in the mind.

Very vivid images this piece gives. I always love the way you write in such a way it paints a picture to a point it can be felt and the smells in the air seem real to me at that point in time. Feeling a bond with the words and story they tell.

Great Job!!!!!!
