We. Poets

We. Poets

A Poem by Fran Marie
"

One for the Poets

"
don't let the sun
catch ya cryin' Babe..
you shed enough tears
written through the years
to last a lifetime dear~

you been introduced to agony
a blue kind of pain
that falls heavy
like the rain..
words from sweet lips
spoken with utter disdain

a misery within
hiding sensitive skin.
you left life do you in..
feeling defeated ..you
caved in

..so yeah hon,
don't let that old sun
catch ya cryin' lil' darlin'
like a weighted down soul
that just can't win.

Gerry and the Pacemakers!! what a great song ... and oh my young blue agony pained heart did sing along ;) what i like the most about this, Fran, is the very strong voice that says darlin' sometimes one simply has to buck up and take it ... get up get up get up and greet the sun ... love it ... feeling a bit on the droopy side me self this morning .. Beauregard and i just happen to be waiting for the sunrise to take a little walk in the wood ;) love on ya! forever peace and joy! enjoyed reading and the experience it brings. i will take the encouragement i see in it.

For the poets, with sensitive skins and a lifetime of pain in their hearts, writing is the only salvation on earth. The only outlet they have...Your words are so full of empathy and understanding of where poets come from. Appreciated very much, dear Fran.

This song is a teensy bit before my cognizance of music, but as with most music of this era, I remember it to be another of those shallow bubble-gum la-la lyrics of these times (before poets started writing all the songs). Then I read your poem as a caustic blow-up of this whole poodle-skirt cry-in-your-pop genre and I love how you sandwich many slices of heartbreak reality in between the white wonder bread quotes of this song. Great contrast & comparison (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

as the Everly Brothers sang...."I'll do my cryin' in the rain"
perhaps spilling words, those are our tears, as poets.
thank you for this poem, Fran,
