Suspension

Suspension

A Poem by Fran Marie
"

Winter blahs

"
winter' s frosted breath
has sought my fragile bones ..drying

sleep escapes my tired eyes
sleepless nights invade my thoughts with.dying

although as I find myself
in a myriad of miseries ..I'm not crying

a shower or two of spring rain to
renew this dull existence
'tis~ my hopes relying

so until the daffodils..dance
in warm springtime breeze
I'll be a dead spirit waiting..

a'las ..my sleep comes.
.until then..I shall be hibernating

Fran, I felt every word of this poem. Winter in the Midwest is one of hibernation, life suspended until green peeps from the dead. Even though I suffer from insomnia all year, it’s worse in winter months, making the season even longer. I think most who suffer from seasonal depression will relate to this one.

Ah, to hibernate until the daffodils bloom! How wonderful that would be. It's been in the sixties here all week with continual rain and fog...not like winter at all. But we do not miss the freezing temperatures. I enjoyed your poem very much.

winter definitely keeps us suspended waiting for spring.
really like your use of rhyme here to finish each stanza....like a poem within a poem...
felt the coldness here.

thanks Jacob..so very much appreciate your kind words;
holding my breath till spring. I can relate. I am assuming since your technique is very clean the little anomalies in punctuation are intentional to match the mood of the piece.

Thanks Lyn..s o very much for stopping by to read ..I so appreciate it☺
There can be two interpretations of this beautifully written poem for me. Waiting for the spring in the physical sense and lying low till the harshness of winter abates. Yet again, it could be a winter in a heart that needs for love’s spring to return. Exquisite read...
