Island

Island

A Poem by Fran Marie

deserted.. i'm here..
alone and
feeling the pain..

wishing to float away
to that better place
falling into your arms..
feeling your heartbeat

hearing the laughter inside your voice
sharing the dream within your heart.

.if only
you would hear my distant call

I'd scale each mountain
I'd cross the sea

just to be with you

i feel the lonely in this ... perfect title and fine use of the metaphor .. could be longing for one lost or one hoped to find .. the memories stirred in me are of the later ... as want, desire and need went unfulfilled at the time those feelings were at their height ... funny how letting go and knowing lonely and alone are not the same can suddenly materialize that one we have been missing ;) very emotive, well thought out says i ..touches me

dear friend;
'.. hearing the laughter inside your voice ~ sharing the dream within your heart.'

Sad, so sad but beautiful. Whatever you write, you create a tone, a colour, a note, Fran.. and always the best. Being a mere part of someone is cuts deep, doesn't it. May I send you a hug, please.

You say so much in such a few words. Sending you yet another hug. (Fran)
Over the mountains and across the sea, a few towns over, or down the road in a coffee shop, somebody's been thinking about you lately.

I can relate to every word of this poem, feeling like an island that no one visits. They say that love can move mountains; but when love becomes a mountain, nothing moves. I love the painting that you chose to go with your words. Well done.

s o very much;
oh the longing. This is both sad and hopeful in the same breath. The visual it creates is melancholy but relaxing and I think we have all been to this island before. Great writing!!

dear Fran Marie... someday we will once again hear
the laughter of a person entwined in our heart and soul...
when Stars form bridges to faraway places where
mockingbirds sing and daffodils dance on clouds of
memories embedded in our dreams. truly, Pat

A poem full of longing as mountains wait to be scaled and distances overcome. Speaks to me of long distance love and very relatable. Such heartfelt words of love and appreciated so much, Fran.

many thanks Divya..I so appreciate you stopping by to read and your kind words;
Fran, as your poem proves, some of the finest poetry is found in brevity. In a few words, you've created not only a scene but a mood we feel throughout. Stranded alone on deserted island is how we so often feel when we long for another, especially if separated by distance. Sometimes, too, the distance, can be emotional, the space only feet apart in the same house. I truly enjoyed this one, Fran.
