Melancholy

` Melancholy `~(Zanila)

Tossed into darkness I sit alone
Thoughts dip into deep despair
when light fades dim,the rain falls again
Melancholy~ the name of my tears

Wavering flames from one low candle
throws dark shadows on bare walls
the rain falls again,when light fades dim
and darkest of ghostly nights befalls

Whistl'ing winds escort each drop of rain
and my soul sinks steeper still
when light fades dim, the rain falls again
drowing hopes, and my spirit's goodwill

This poem; I like it very much!! Reminds me of a few lines I penned late one nite 20 years ago. Those were the nights when I was up late, alone, pondering life and what I might do next in life. Always sitting crossed legged on those nights putting my thoughts upon the page; exploring those thoughts by candle-light with the moon sometimes shining through my window panes. I guess I'll entitle that poem "The Wind" when I enter it on the site... hahaha, I just noticed that my clock just turned 2:30AM and that happens to be the time I put on the poem when it was completed. Thanks for the memory reminder!! Bear

You have definitely described a melancholy moment. I like the way the rhythm and rhyme work together. Well done.

thanks Nina, so very much;
I love this poem. And the history behind the ZaniLa Rhyme is very interesting, especially since I had no idea it existed! Great write.
