Ah, an original, poetic rendition of that old truth... Even if one wins the battle, he/she is not declared victorious... for the war continues.

I read this again because I needed to... sometimes life changes how we interpret poetry. :)

Your poem succinctly shows how competitive people view any matching of wit or ability in life. But as your gloating narrator may discover, winning the battle or the war may not always unfold as the raving success that a victor may imagine! Love your thought-provoking snippet of life! thanks Margie so much appreciate..sorry i'm. late in replying☺
Fran, applause on success with Senryu (honestly, I'm clueless about all the poetry rules). I must admit I laughed when I read this one. I can hear a woman saying this to her man. As a man, I know one loss will surely follow a victory, even if delayed. I just expect it! Good one!

You're far too good at this form, Fran Mari.. so yet again, i call 'Brava!' Wish I had time and patience to count up how many times I've typed that underneath one of your offerings.. and for how many years. Thank you for the wit and the example of 'how to.. ' :)
