I like this one. Did you mean darken stormy or dark and stormy tho? Both are useable I suppose, but dark and stormy gives me a different feeling - that the night was pitch and lightning split it, than darken stormy does - that the dusk was fading into darkness and the clouds were lowering and threatening.
Hope that helps and isn't too presumptuious.
