love~a four letter word

love~a four letter word

A Poem by Fran Marie

sometimes love bites
           and love's bite is bitter
tears from eyes one cries
             and the sadden heart
                                 does wither

she told him it was just a fling
He thought that surely she did jest
                       he gave her everything
                                 and did

                                      his very best

but she never promised anything
                  not love, nor caring so
nor did she ask for stars or moon
                               but oh

                                   he loved her so

        he was a broken man
wearing his heart on his sleeve
she told him to return no more
                       and not so politely

                                      to Just Leave!

What a treasure you have penned here.. not of course for the poor bloke subject to such a rejection, but for independence and the women's liberation movement in general..... No one want to be rejected tho do they, except for Alice Cooper (lol)..... All Good Things... Neville

My very sincere pleasure my Friend and true..... Neville
"Love-a four letter word"
Fran Marie,
This was a poem with a lesson. Stars in the eyes'
are how a person may view another when hunger
for loneliness to be filled with another. The time
and effort to build a relationship is lost many a
time when the danger signals may of bee present.
What a great poem:
"She told him it was just a fling He thought that surly
she did jest he gave her everything and his very best"
What can be done? I suppose sometimes things are just
so difficult. Good poem and message. Oh and I found the
lay out such a winsome way to present.
Blessings,
Kathy

Thanks, Laura, so much...
Sounds like she did not have even kindness to offer. He may be better off without her. Valentine

Has a lightness that belies the deepness of the subject... Very well written Fran!

Such bittersweet rhythm and rhyme, all that is love and life torn away suddenly. Nothing can empower us like love, and nothing can crush us like the moment love is taken away.

Though sad in its way.. what a sting in the tail of this - or should is it a tale wrapped in carefully laid words? And, they are careful. You've said how it is, how Woman can be as much an executioner as a man. Seems the modern way, what women have fought for for years. Had Pankhurst known though, I wonder if..

Love the power of your words, the way you come/go start to finish with great panache!
