`My Sweet Iris Ensata`

`My Sweet Iris Ensata`

A Poem by Fran Marie
"

Japanese Iris flower

"

              Japanese Iris

  without a care

           serene flower, oh so fair

                  By water's edge

 in Zen  garden's hue

                 soft lavenders and sunlit blues

                 In twilight's  faint glow

   her petals to rest

                  'til morn's  golden light

she stands at her best

              Iris Ensata ~

to your  countenance I can  relate

               embodied soul blossom

  my spirit incarnate

Tis said that you can understand a person more by the books read, the movies, etc watched, the way they treat animals and so forth. For me as a landscaper.. i truly believe that if a human being loves a specific flower, shrub or tree and can write about it with affection and another word - love. that person understands More because of what has been noticed.

You've touched colour tones and form, grace and presence; for you it has a heart and spirit. Tis to be admired from an every-decreasing distance, then, touched, held - ever remembered. Tis how one might feel for another being. Seems to me. This poem is beautiful.. a spirit incarnate', indeed.

dear Fran Marie... this is quite an Ode to an Iris... one of
my favorite flowers. My Aunt June was President of
the Delmarva Iris Club for years (Delaware, Maryland and Virginia).
Now she is tending the gorgeous Iris in light years in Heaven...
so many variations of colors that warm your Spirit. tenderly, Pat

A truly majestic flower in hues of purple. We used to have these flowers in our water garden some years ago. Your posted image is delightful Fran Marie and your words capture this beautiful flower perfectly.

Thanks, so very much..glad you enjoyed;
Just gorgeous! I lived in Japan for seven years, and each June I'd visit some iris gardens. Your poem provides me with a dose of nostalgia.
