They're but mere thoughts upon paper
elected utensil 'tis the mighty pen
It slides across white parchment
becoming a wordmaker
combined with action from one's hand
No particular subject
A poet writes of many things
A concave line~here~ and ~there
lends a little decor zing.
You need not attain a license
nor a prestigous college degree
Poetry evolves from within, a sixth sense
what is in your soul for all to see.
So fidget and fuss, if you must
because haste makes waste,
so we are told
Nevertheless,take your pen from case
Lest it turns to rust.
and you'll rescue your words to unfold.
For a Poet has his pen
and 'Tis mightier than the sword'
and writes of dreams so beautiful
A gift to guide the world.
Well, I know that I am often unsure about what I am writing and definitely about sharing it...but this piece makes me feel braver about it, if I don't need a license or a college degree...but can just write to bring out that which is within, thanks so much for your writing Fran, and your inspiration!
It encompasses everything that poetry is about. Staring at that blank piece of paper...just writing nonsense is enough to get the juices flowing. But my dear...whatever YOU write....is far from nonsense!!
Fran this is beautiful. What a noble craft you have painted us to have.
Nevertheless,take your pen from case
Lest it turns to rust.
This should be a mantra for all writers. Excellent work Friend.
I see you are busy re-entering your work. LOL I am having fun finding gems like this from my friends which I missed while I was editing. This truly is a wonderful work. Beautifully structured and deeply felt by every writer. Many cheers.
Indeed! Too bad you can't tell all those so-called experts out there that one does not need a fancy degree from the finest of universities to write what comes from the heart - be it a poem or a novel. This was a great piece!
