Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones

A Poem by Fran Marie

I've only a pittance to offer

     a swirl of dreamlike words

conjured up from the magical

     playground of my mind

              perhaps I imagine

you standing on a pedestal of grand measure

as i shower you with gold and luxurious gifts

hand carved in intricate detail

would that I could give all this and more...

paintings of zen gardens and sunlit meadows

azure skies smiling and green peacock feathers

but I am not an artist of such flair

nor a builder of pedestals so grand

nor have I the midas touch of

these treasures to bestow

                            No, oh no

I've only a pittance of mere words to offer

                     from my heart

and use them as stepping stones

                   hoping they find

                  their way into yours

You've laid each stepping stone across the waters of doubt, and built a bridge to an exotic land. While we can't live on words alone, yours create quite a world for us to live in. I thoroughly enjoyed your couplet about the Zen gardens.

Your desire to build a sacred space for the special person in your life is what shines through in this poem. This is a true example of a soul who wishes to give the world to the one she cares about. Your words build a good path toward that world.

Thank you Betty
so much appreciate your kind review
Words are enough when they create such a beautiful bridge of love. The ideal stepping stones. What else do we need but the earnestness and devotion expressed in your words here? They're perfect.....

Chris appreciate
the re read;
Words are nothing if used spuriously and everything if they come straight from the heart, as they do here. I can feel the love, the connection made, the distances abridged, by your words. Kudos!

You are welcome Fran Marie.
Fran Marie, your mind was in a wonderful place, when writing this. May each reader treasure the pittance, as they ride the gossamer threads of enchantment. I know I did.

This is an amazing poem. You painted yourself as a humble observer of the world and offered up your perspective to whosoever reads this poem. You establish a connection with the reader and that makes this poem great. Thanks for submitting it in my contest.
