Winter's Barren Stage

Winter's Barren Stage

A Poem by Fran Marie

Winter's Barren Stage

The sky was a grey canvas lacking zest
awaiting an artist's touch~ perhaps
some splashes of bright aqua blues

A few sacred leaves thin as tissue
paper with precious little life,still
trying to cling to undressed trees
which temporarily lost their green
splendor,started drifting down to
the ice-covered ground

All life below proved to be in
suspended animation
'twas no escape from
winter's barren stage
now desolate, empty and so
void of all color.

Icy winds blew~ launching
whiirling snowfkaes into a
blustery blizzard

For a moment I hesitated
and held the thought
wondering if I could
change the scenery

I imagine holding a bucket
of blue paint and almost
forgetting~ I grab some
yellow from an imaginary palette
and toss it into the air

Just a creative thought of color
in my mind's eye,but
'Alas Mother Nature
shall have her way

I live in Winter's Barren Stage for approximately 6-7 months every year. I appreciate the imagery and would love to see you write about the colours finally coming back in spring.

I love the thought of trees being undressed and of painting the landscape with a paint brush. Truly, your words painted a lovely landscape for my mind's eye. We CAN change the scenery in our imaginations! Wonderful work, Fran Marie. Lydi**

Wonderfuly written with a touch of color! You are quite the poet. I am honored to have the privilege of reviewing and sharing your work with others! If this poem was a painting, then it would be nearly the most beautiful thing I'd ever see!

Good write; excellent imagery; sacred leaves thin as tissue paper; suspended animation . Hope for just a little color on the dreary grey sky!

A beautiful write, and the idea of painting the white is an interesting one.
I think it's important to note that the colors are only "temporarily lost", so it isn't that bad to let Mother Nature have her way of going through a bleak state, because it's not a permantent one.
Very inspiring.

Mother Nature is in control of the paint this time, a creative ending.
