No Storms to Weather

No Storms to Weather

A Poem by Fran Marie

No Storms to Weather

If we lived in a 'perfect world'
we will have reached
the only day in existence
there 'd be no need to argue
there would be no difference

Would we really be living in harmony?
in non realistic perfection
no mistakes to be made
no hard school of rules
no meeting muster for inspection

There'd be no conflicts
only heaven, no hell
no opposites
of good verses evil
no devil to repel

Nothing to strive for
no ambition
Atheletes would shrivel up
from lack of competition

no mountains standing before
nor behind us to have conquered
no storms to weather thru~
no problems whatsoever
with the horizon ever blue

We all would be so perfect
A perfectly unison bore
with everyone the same
no need to keep score

there wouldn't really be a future
life would cease to be
truly a one day exsistence
if we all lived perfectly

There be no comfort to
enjoy after a hard work day
no need for gratitude
nothing for which to pray

So in this non perfect world
we have to struggle on
to balance the nature of all things
in the order to which they belong.

And would a rose truly be as lovely,
without its prickly thorns?

"And would a rose truly be as lovely,
without its prickly thorns?"

A very good point! How cute is it when a baby steals a lollypop? That is one of the majesties of human free will.

What is the meaning of safety without murder and rape. I don't like them, but they bring meaning. Plus, we had to be made free. That is just a state of being, and the right one.

What you do with your freedom is a different matter altogether.

Another great write.

Thanks so very much,
This was well worthy of first place in my contest.
This is a great way to look at life and its so true.
Its moving and deep.
Its true we have to go through struggles in life to get to the good things.
What would life be if we got every thing we wanted so easily without having to try.
We have to work towards things, to get there.
This explains that beautifully :)
Great write, i enjoyed the read:)

From the beginning of our time as we know it, man has been part of good and evil, night and day, opposites....that which you have so eloquently expressed in your write!
Excellent....and I just love the last question!

Oh you said it all so clearly, especially this verse...

there wouldn't really be a future
life would cease to be
truly a one day exsistence
if we all lived perfectly

if life was smooth sailing then we would not know how to appreciate our accomplishments and no real joy... wonderfully stated.

I will want to post this in the church its really that good! it the length for sure you are making top 5! Outstanding job!

This is great, Fran! In a perfect world, we would be in complete peace and harmony, perfectly aligned! That's what I get from this. And congratulations!

Hehe. nice ending.
I agree with your ideologie, without imperfection the world would no longer be interesting.

Beautiful. To answer the last two lines... I don't believe a rose would look as beautiful without its thorns.
It would look so weak and fragile, I'd not even want to touch it.
The beauty of a rose comes not only from its pedals, but also from its strong pose.
It shows that even the most precious things in life are nicer when they can handle themselves.
If that makes any sense at all.
