But for what?

But for what?

A Poem by Foxxy

The burden I bear is too much

And yet I stay

Where else would I go?

I have no home

“The home is where the heart is”

But I hold no heart

I am hollow

This empty bird cage that once held the content singing canary

Is now drafty, empty, and left for nothing

For the once jubilant canary

Is now an old black crow

I feel no joy

I cannot feel what is not there; what is not here

I once loved

I was once happy

But all that is gone now

Shattered

Taken

For so many have caused pain

Despair

Sorrow

And only few have brought forth love

Joy

Hope

I keep an open mind

An open “heart”

But for what?

I’m not hopeful for something I know will never come

This life already half wasted

I wait solemnly for the end
