Distractions ~

Distractions ~

A Poem by Foxemerald
"

It constantly escapes me, how people can manage to be so annoying . . .

"

Lady, you are a profound distraction-

Why do you sit there, with your head turning, as you watch-

Fidgeting like a small bird, who has found a worm to undo her,

Your head turns, this way and back,

As you try to see what’s behind you-

The mystery that sits at your back,

Your nerves crackle with energy that incites my thoughts,

And makes me an eerie wonder . . .

Casting your light over me.

I am but a figment of your dreams,

A creation of fanciful whim,

Lighted with energy that you have spun.

And cast into a net-

The web of your driveling thoughts-

Who is this woman behind me?’

I ask you, what’s it matter?

Do I really inhibit your musings?

Why don’t you withdraw your energies,

And place them back into your phone?

Why do you stand there, looking about you,

As though pining for a long lost friend?

For God’s sake, woman!

Check your phone one more time and then message her-

Then let me be . . .

The girl who blends into the wall,

As I ask of you . . .

That was really disturbing, thank God it's not me who is sitting with her. This was a nice read, I really smiled when I read this part it was so clever: "Why don’t you withdraw your energies, And place them back into your phone?"

Wow. This is unexpectedly profound. People really can be annoyingly observant right when you want to be left alone! I love the message, I love its portrayal and I love the frustration towards this fidgety woman who can't keep her eyes to herself :p well done!

This tells an interesting tale. It speaks to me of the destractions that are both inside the self and outside the self. What we see as well as the various forms of what we visualize internally. The image that I get is of one person riding on a bus, with lots of other people. The person is trying to focus on something but other things become interesting in the corner of the eye and creates the distraction. Frustration bubbles up as more of these little movements in the bus become far more catching than the original individual focus point. For me this is the poem of that person rant. the original self is desperately appealing to oneself to quit being curious.

I think the main concept that comes to mind here is just how much distraction is created by the self in any given situation verses the amount of distraction that is actually coming from the outside.

A fascinating and frustrating poem! Good Ink!
