![]() Love Killed by a Crank ~A Poem by Foxemerald![]() Analogy of the 'crank' refers to the original films shown by mutoscope.![]()
Love is in the past,
Where it happens, is in the past. Over and done, It's become . . . A constant rerun. A cyclical turn of your thoughts, That plays back your emotions. Emotions reach out, In a cresting- Wavelength of feeling, To immerse the events . . . Then recede. Most of them have been cut from the scene- It's playback, Makes everything seem, Thus reassuring. These feelings have never existed- Were lost, To the steady turn of the crank . . . During playback. It was only a picture . . . Once upon a time's cast- Scenes and footage, Of events and people, In which footage was chopped . . . A love where emotions were cut, It's sounds were muted, In the steady thrumming, Of the crank. A clip from the past . . . Disconnection . . . Where love happens, Is through pictures, Because it has been edited, And revised . . . To fit the modern viewer's eyes- And that viewer's needs. Love is a turn of past happenings- That take place in a film, A constant flow- Which rolls and rolls, Muted and silent it becomes, A lovely picture- That is nothing but pleasing to watch. For . . . Love is killed in my version. © 2016 Foxemerald |
