Ghost of the Soul ~A Poem by FoxemeraldInspired by Blackmore's Night music.Ghost of The Soul ~ {Blackmore's Night Fans-which song was this piece modeled after? A fool you are if you can't guess it . . .}
My heart was a heavy chamber, a rustic space with hopes amiss, streaked with the pebbles of gold. . . which you'd bestowed upon me then, as you walked within the fabric of the, eternal thought of dreams.
Rose-clad silk had circled over- The paintings of my locked-up chest, the ghost of the past drifted with song, a soul-filled voice that sparked my needs.
Down the faded, zigzagged lines the, past slipped through the cracks of dreams, as I lived through the pressurized space, of a life that evaded these whims.
And then I paused, my eyelids closing, My hands flew like a bird to clutch, The chasm of my heart locked tightly- As a slow and relentless nail drove through- the crack of my weakened keyhole, causing me to gasp as- Shining light began to carve a, Path for the fabled words which slipped, up the ventricles of my closed heart, now thrumming with its life . .
My blood, now a pearlescent mist, Re-awakened in its role . . . I heard a voice that brought the gentle pressure of your lips against, the weakening mold of this soft- once measured, facial mask.
Your passionate kiss, lingered on my cheek as once it had, I reached upward to pull an, errant strand of hair aside from, your white brow of innocence.
The image fell away with ease, and then- Fingers sifted through the membranes, and slowly pried through the door of my heart, Allowing the ghost to spring free of the chest, at last-
And then I turned-
I thought I'd heard a gentle tapping . . . But when I did so, I saw nothing but a faint shimmer, and I smile, but a frosted line of pain, for I knew that it was only your ghost- trespassing on my dreams once again . . .
