The Delights of Nothing ~

The Delights of Nothing ~

A Poem by Foxemerald

The Delights of Nothing ~ 'Oh thou which comes from being lazy!'

(You would be surprised, at what the delights of doing absolutely nothing emit! I was sitting here today thinking about the many ways that things which take very little effort can provide pleasure. One of the only poems I've written of which I've felt the words to be actually true :) BE WARNED: This poem is completely whimsical! )

Purple mist of taunting,

holding my weak fancy,

and give me pause to think-

grabbing me with odd delights.

The blank face of white before me,

the rolling clouds above me,

tease me as I watch, from sordid dips,

in a sinful, unknown picnic!

I roll upon the grass on lazy days,

the number 'zero' taunts my fancy,

I completely ignore my chores,

my mother's harping voice to clean the-

garments from off the carpet,

to which I give a careless chirp,

'responsibility is fickle!'

The air, is filled with Cheshire cats

and marvelous green mists that-

seem to come from places,

exist in shameful fancy, hidden jest-

My mind is filled with ease and wonder,

my legs splayed with a lazy joy-

of what I won't admit, I'll wager

to be a little accolade.

the drain drips with the leaky delights,

as I roll within my bath,

and mock the call of day which tells,

of a work-filled hour which I,

must- I hastily think,

 I must somehow circumvent.

I bask in my fire's warming mirth

rolling with my cats upon the hearth,

and at dawn-

and I hear the first call of birds,

heralding my next mandate-

'it's time to go to work!' they chirp!

I sigh, and think to myself-

I want that little picnic in my mind,

to get me through this heavy work day!

And when I chat that day, on new purchase-

I'll hide my little grin perhaps,

and conjure images unknowing,

as the customers become-

little figments in my mind,

the nature of which I shall never admit to,

so, if you are reading this,

simply imagine what that is!
