Chilling DeathA Poem by FoxemeraldA dark night shatters every semblance of life as it freezes the world, and a black coldness overtakes the soul/Inspired in part by Titanic and in part by the weather-Chilling Death ~ {Warning: this poem inspires extreme angst in its reader. It was inspired in part by Titanic, and in part by the snow storm however, so I rest my case}
A black rush chills, Every single child’s finger, And coats the window of, The black, frigid glass. Each vein explodes in- Ice that creeps along windows, Until it becomes one with the glass.
Shoulders crack beneath warped tires, As the horns now start to beckon Crying out for help unbidden.
Lovers begin to stroke the night, And forget about that entrenched life, In which they’d invested so much time, And leave behind their souls . . .
Veins freeze within their valves, Mittens gleam with night’s black light, Through agony as hands turn cold, Lifted into the silent moonlight-
The ventricles along the panes, Have finally frozen, Submitting to the vice of fate, A blackness that finally grips each soul.
. . .
Through each tiny, minute ventricle, Ice has begun to shiver- Splinters with a groaning glass, Along the window pane I see, As the physical body leaves behind its every pain, At the last, And the window begins to crack, While the cries stop and the cars now . . . Slowly roll to a stop.
And then . . . the world around me is quiet.
I look down . . . I can no longer see my mittens . . . Or hear the baby cries, And that’s when I know . . . That I have finally submitted also. © 2014 Foxemerald |
