A Raven's Dark PlightA Poem by Foxemerald
~ A Raven’s Dark Plight- A dark beauty, Fingers that elegantly grace, Over the cold pristine glaze, Of an untouched, blue, iced shard, That grew to darkening, Slowly thickening beauties, Gifts to the untrained eye- Of an unfathomable image, The dark, soulless dense musings, Of what you always wish to see, to touch. . . And the soft-spoken merit, Which these preening blackbirds, With their heights of rigidity, Only can understand . . . I held onto a blissful cadence heard, One that was a tie between, The glorious beauty their silk sheens, Had granted to me- But alas, I did cry. While I listened to their preening, primping, I saw again- That unrelenting blue shard, That I took with me to my own mind- And then, I understood, Why the shadows encased me, And that the raven wisps, Which streaked across now across the sky, Were what I lived upon- As the mere stuff of dreams, Upon a true hope’s gleaming- A beautiful shard of the sky, That had been removed from the, Dark night above me, And placed before me directly. How could I thank the heavens for, The ability to understand the music, Granted to me by the wings, Of a cold, black raven . . . And, how beautiful indeed! Is the glass like sheen, Of the color symbolized, Which lights up my own dreams . . . It makes no sense, But I do love these ravens, And their untrammeled beauty, And the liveliness of their pigment, That dark, telltale marking, That we all may fear . . .
