A Cat's Eyes GlowA Poem by Foxemerald
~ A Cat’s Eyes Glow ~
My cat makes love to, The midnight flowers, Growing, outside my window, And watches me, While I grit my teeth, And, Sits there like a cold clock, Tail a flicking pendulum Staring at me, While she keeps track of my time.
Her tail whips back and forth, Just like they were, lit beneath the, Silver stones twinkling from the, Malicious, thick black night.
As though caught by a guillotine, Made out of a fire . . .
I clench my hands, Watching the red tips clack softly, Wishing that the hard lacquer, Would just become like- Meek flowers . . . Upon this window ledge.
I keep seeing your lips . . . In my mind’s eye, And perhaps this is the reason, I painted my nails for reminder, To watch while, miles and miles, Are drawn out from beneath me, Like a clouded roll of film showing, Who we were once, As the cat’s tail flicks- And each new, torturous minute- Passes me by slowly, And watch your image fade, As the roll tapers off . . .
Why do her eyes, Glow, so eerily at me?
Sometimes I wonder, If this female cat, Can sense my real guilt, As though it were a mouse . . .
For her eyes are flashing, Upon these red, glinting tips, As though quite taken, by them . . .
She rests upon the window’s ledge, And can only watch as my hands clench, Sensing cruelty there, Even though I know I haven’t . . . Earned this judgment.
But still, my passion fades away, In my mind’s eye, As you are slowly fading . . . A random glow, just a random light, One that is so much colder, Than this cold cat’s eyes . . . © 2013 FoxemeraldReviews
