The Dark Valley of Hidden AngelsA Poem by FoxemeraldThe deep dark throes and woes within our hearts, moves into the light. The Dark Valley of Hidden Angels This is the land I have fallen into, This is the land of terror, This is the land where I see myself- All is not gained, there is nothing better. I have fallen into a place where no one speaks, I have fallen into a place of gross victory, I have fallen, I have fallen, I have fallen into release, I have fallen into release, into terror. Boulders rise in gloom, The water rolls at my feet, Newts peek out, ‘hello,’ They call, but- I cannot speak, I cannot cry. I ran over a squirrel by accident, Running across the road, I wanted freedom, But it killed him, And who now, Really understands freedom? His tail flipped back, In death he lay, The shadowed valley, Of rising boulders. I sought the freedom here of me, For I wanted to express Who I was really, But visited, A shadowy enclosure . . . Pooled around my feet. The newts hid, And everyone understood, At last- That I- I had killed. I had killed life. Nothing gained, nothing sought, I finally wept my heart out. The valley brightened, The trees glistened, As sunlight fell upon me. Whistling to me, All of the critters came out, And I looked up, At a Heavenly blue sky.
I see wings of squirrels flying around up there.
